Achieve Your Wellness Goals with Dry Needling

Dry Needling

At Rising Motion, we believe that wellness starts with movement.  Sometimes, the key to restoring that movement lies in releasing what’s holding your body back. Dry needling is a powerful, evidence-based technique designed to relieve muscle tension, decrease pain, and improve mobility so you can move freely again.

What is Dry Needling

Dry needling involves the use of a thin, sterile filament needle inserted into trigger points — tight bands of muscle or connective tissue — to help release tension, improve blood flow, and reduce pain. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is grounded in modern anatomy and neurophysiology.

It’s a safe, effective treatment used by physical therapists to address both acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain.

Benefits of Dry needling

Dry needling can help with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Neck, shoulder, and back pain
  • Headaches and jaw (TMJ) pain
  • Hip, knee, and ankle pain
  • Sports-related muscle tightness or overuse
  • Sciatica or nerve-related pain
  • Post-surgical muscle tension or scar tissue
  • Muscle spasms, trigger points, and restricted range of motion

Key benefits:

  • Reduced muscle pain and stiffness
  • Improved mobility and flexibility
  • Faster recovery after injury or exercise
  • Decreased tension and improved posture

What to expect during your session

Session includes:

  • A brief intake and discussion of your symptoms and goals
  • Assessment of muscle tension and movement patterns
  • Targeted dry needling performed by a licensed physical therapist
  • Optional complementary techniques such as manual therapy, stretching, or corrective exercise to enhance your results

You may experience mild soreness afterward — similar to a workout — which typically resolves within a day or two. Most patients notice an immediate improvement in movement and relief of tension.

Is Dry needling right for you?

Dry needling is a great option if you’re struggling with persistent muscle tightness, pain that limits your movement, or tension that hasn’t improved with stretching or massage. It’s often used in combination with physical therapy techniques for the best long-term results.
